When a campaign email has a link, Kenso swaps it for a tracking link made for each lead, so you can see who clicked. You turn click tracking on or off per campaign in the Tracking card of the campaign's Settings tab. Open Campaigns with G then C. You see clicks on the campaign's Analytics tab, and every Monday Kenso emails you a list of the leads who clicked last week.
How click tracking works
- It's on by default. Track link clicks is on for every new campaign.
- Every web link counts. Kenso tracks each link that starts with
http://orhttps://. Email (mailto:) and phone (tel:) links are not tracked. - Each lead gets their own link. When the email sends, Kenso replaces your link with a short tracking link for that lead. A click records who clicked, then sends the reader on to the address you wrote.
- You keep editing the real address. The Sequence editor shows the address you wrote, not the tracking link. If you change an address and save, emails that have not sent yet use the new one. Emails already sent keep the old link, and it keeps working.
- Kenso adds no UTM parameters. The reader lands on the exact address you wrote, so put your UTM parameters in the link yourself.
- Link text that is a web address reads "this link". A tracking link goes to the tracking address, not to the site its text names, and spam filters treat that mismatch as phishing. So when a tracked link's whole text is an address, such as
acme.com/demo, Kenso shows "this link" instead. Give your links words, such as "the 2-minute demo". - No tracking link, no count. If Kenso can't make a tracking link for an email, it holds the email briefly, then sends it with your link as written. A click on that link isn't counted.
Turn click tracking on or off
- Press G then C to open Campaigns, and click your campaign.
- Open the Settings tab and scroll to the Tracking card.
- Switch Track link clicks on or off. Kenso saves the change right away.
You need edit access to Campaigns to change it. The change applies to emails that have not sent yet. With Track link clicks off, links go out exactly as you wrote them and Kenso counts no clicks.
The same card has Track opens, which reads "Off by default. Open tracking hurts deliverability." Leave it off and judge your emails by replies.
See who clicked
- On the Analytics tab. The Segments table has a Clicks column: clicks by people, as a share of leads contacted. Clicks from bots and security scanners that check links before a person does are left out. Hover a segment's Clicks to see Unique clickers and Bot events. See Read campaign results.
- On the Campaigns list. Hover a campaign to see its Clicks and the share of contacted leads who clicked.
- In the weekly click report. A CSV of every lead who clicked, with names, titles and companies.
The weekly click report
Every Monday, Kenso emails a report of the clicks from the week before, Monday to Sunday (UTC). The subject reads like "12 leads clicked your links last week". The email shows how many people clicked, how many times, across how many campaigns, and the top 5 clickers with their Name, Title, Company and Clicks.
To get the full list:
- Click Download the full list (CSV) in the email.
- Sign in to Kenso if asked. The page Weekly click report opens and the download starts on its own.
- If your browser blocks it, click Download CSV. Click Download again for another copy.
The file is called clicked-leads- plus the week's start date. It has one row per lead, most clicks first, with these columns: Full Name, First Name, Last Name, Title, Headline, LinkedIn URL, Location, Seniority, Email, Company Name, Company Domain, Company LinkedIn URL, Industry, Employee Count, Campaign, Total Clicks, Clicked Links, First Click (UTC) and Last Click (UTC). Clicked Links lists each link with its click count. Campaign is the campaign the lead clicked most in.
Good to know:
- The link works for 7 days. The email says when it expires. Next week's email has a new link.
- Paid plans get it. Workspaces on the Free plan don't get the report.
- Only weeks with clicks. No clicks that week, no email.
- Who gets it. Members who can export leads (Admin and Editor by default) and can see all accounts in the workspace. The download checks the same rules each time. See Invite your team and set roles.
- Turn it off for yourself. Press G then , to open Settings, open Notifications, and under Campaigns clear the Email box on Weekly click report.
- Up to 50,000 leads per report. Leads you added from a list in the Library tab of Lists are left out.
Leads who click are worth a direct follow-up, or a place in a retargeting campaign.
Links and deliverability
- Keep the first email free of links. Links and tracking make a cold email look like marketing. If you need a link, put it in the second or third email. See Write cold emails people reply to.
- Each sending domain has a click tracking switch too. On Delivery, a domain's side panel has Click tracking: "Rewrites links through a tracking subdomain so Kenso can count clicks." See Set up sending domains and check their DNS.
What Ken can do here
Press ⌘J and ask Ken, or use an AI tool connected to Kenso (see Use Kenso from Claude or ChatGPT). With your approval, it can turn Track link clicks on or off for a campaign, and list, add, rename, repoint or delete its tracking links. Adding or changing one needs edit access to Delivery. Two things work differently there than in the editor:
- Changing a tracking link's address also changes it in emails already sent. It needs a paid plan, and once the link has gone out, a workspace can change addresses 20 times a day.
- Deleting a tracking link turns it off everywhere, including in emails already sent.
If something goes wrong
- "Clicks show 0, but my website shows visits from the email." Check that Track link clicks is on in the campaign's Settings tab. Clicks from bots and link scanners don't count: hover Clicks to see Bot events. A link Kenso couldn't track went out as written and isn't counted.
- "I didn't get a weekly report." The workspace is on the Free plan, nobody clicked that week, you turned the email off in Settings › Notifications, or your role can't export leads.
- "This report has expired." Reports can be downloaded for 7 days after the email is sent. Next week's email has a new link.
- "You don't have access to this report." Downloading it needs the Export permission and access to all accounts in the workspace. Ask an admin to update your permissions.
- "We couldn't find this report." Sign in with the account the email was sent to. The link may also be incomplete.
- "This link cannot be used: ..." when you save an email. The link's domain is blocked by a malware-blocking DNS resolver (Cloudflare or Quad9), or it was registered less than 30 days ago. Use a different link. Your own workspace's domains skip the age rule.
- "Could not save that setting. Try again." The switch didn't save. Reload the page and try again.
